The four fresh styles are part of his new, lower priced line Ingelmo, named in honor of his family’s five-generation legacy as shoemakers. The collection was inspired by Alejandro’s Cuban heritage and first-ever trip to the island country (check out some of the photos below), an homage made clear in rich suede, vibrant colors, and metallic accents. I have my eye on the red Lydia sandal ($295) because it would be perfect for the Chinese New Year – red is thought to bring good luck and gold, well, it brings gold! The mermaid aqua Ava heel ($450) is also intriguing, but what really got me was the unexpected combo of canvas and metallic on the gold-heeled Lucy ($310) and Violet pump ($310). The contrast is obvious with the metallic heel, but Violet gets her shine in a more subtle way – with shimmering thread woven into the linen. I’d say that’s some clever canvassing.
