Most Surprising Shoe of 2012: Smoking Slipper

Most Surprising Shoe of 2012

I never thought there’d come a day when not only would I be wearing smoking slippers but pony hair smoking slippers in leopard! Hugh Hefner must be feeling ahead of the trend right about now. My pair are from Charles Phillip Shanghai (at Neiman Marcus for $123) similar to Miranda Kerr’s. They’re the perfect addition of texture and print to her basic jeans and black top. I love to throw them on when I feel like my outfit is a little blah (and when my feet need a break from my 5″ Alaias). The cat theme continued with Nicki Hilton’s kitties (courtesy of Charlotte Olympia, of course – on Farfetch for $981.25). This was the really ubiquitous pair. Beyonce combined the kittens with leopard on hers, while Alexa Chung steered clear of animalia altogether by rocking Penelope Chilver’s palm trees. Bejeweled satin Miu Mius (at Saks Fifth Avenue for $650) were another celeb fave, but Amber Heard went for studs instead (is it me or were they on everything this year?). I still have to say that the leopard print loafer was hands-down the winner of the year, though. Have you gotten a pair of smoking slippers yet?

Surprised by this trend too…but I think they are definitely on their way out.

More surprised about the wedge sneaker trend, tho…
