In a collection that depicts the quintessential city-slicker indulging in a winter at say, Miami or Palm Beach, Gucci pays homage to the always-coordinated glamour of the 1970s, belled sleeves and oversized sunglasses included, for Spring 2013. Amidst a collection of luscious color, fluid lines, and voluminous ruffles, the shoes are classic Gucci. Strappy stilettos, some in T-strap form, exude lots of sex appeal; set off with bold ankle cuffs, complete with horsebit-ring detail, it’s an all-out seduction. Indeed, no heavy, clunky heels for the Gucci girl next spring. If Frida Giannini has her way, it’s all about the strap-happy sandal, boosted with that thick, S&M-esque cuff for a semi-dangerous edge. In lush-grass green and sweet-cocktail pink, naturalistic python and bright, tan-highlighting white, Gucci is sticking to a high-impact, though relatively minimal design.
A few chunky buckles countered the sleekness of the stilettos, but this classically seductive style isn’t straying far. And why should it? The Gucci woman knows what she wants, and once you’ve discovered your shoe to go with your belted pantsuits, flirty shift-dresses, and slinky evening gowns alike, well then, what else do you need?
