Top 5 Tri-Color Shoes: Three’s Company
By Shoe Snob Tina
May 2, 2012

They say three’s a crowd, and when it comes to your ensemble, three really can be too much. Adding an extra color to your outfit is tricky to execute without looking clownish, but a vivacious pair of shoes is an easy, foolproof way to jump on the multi-color trend. I prefer the subtle variations of similar color groups, like my beloved Gucci sandals, but for the more daring, clash away! Just remember, even if you’re embracing crazy combos on your feet, it’s vital to stay neutral elsewhere or you’ll lose your sense of chic.

1. Jil Sander Asymmetrical Tricolor Sandal: A refreshing way to do ombré, these graduating shades of the sea have a mellowing effect on the eyes – and with their flat soles, on the feet, too. At Barneys New York for $595.

2. Pierre Hardy Tricolor Wedge: Few do juxtaposing colors as artfully as Hardy. His thick straps are not only different colors, they’re varying textures – yet it all blends together seamlessly. At Barneys New York for $595.

3. Pierre Hardy Colorblock Suede Platform Sandals: Case in point, number two! Disco gone outlandish: the wildest element of these platforms isn’t the jolt of electric-blue but the surprisingly jagged shapes. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $1,250.

4. Gucci Tri-Color Platform Sandals: I’m still loving this trinity of neutral and rich hue. Now that it’s spring, they’ll bring new meaning to lighter looks. On Net-a-Porter for $895.

5. Yves Saint Laurent Flirty Tri-Color Sandal: Normally, a logo detracts from a shoe, but YSL’s cutouts are just the thing to satisfy the cheekiness of such a bold color trio. Against nude leather, this platform is oh-so Parisian-cool. At Neiman Marcus for $1,195.
