Versace Studded Suede and Mesh Wedges: Private Dancer
By Shoe Snob Tina
February 27, 2012

Studded, mesh Lucite platforms measuring 6.3”. If that sounds like one serious stripper shoe to you, well, then I agree with you a hundred percent! I have always had somewhat of an aversion to such an in-your-face “look at me, I’m sexy!” combination of elements. But something about Versace’s class-meets-trash touch is awe-inspiring.

If you’re going to delve into the realm of flashdancer-inspired gear, then Donatella’s is the route to take. She does cutouts, bright color, and teeny mini-dresses like no one else; for Spring, along with these platforms, Versace unleashed loads of gold-studded white and delicious plissé pastels. A little South Beach? Of course. But delightfully so – these wedges are making me want to hit Collins Avenue!

And besides, they aren’t even Lucite: this is degradé plexiglass, and with panels of soft, dark mesh, these have a mysterious air ideal for taking on the night. Available for pre-order on Luisa Via Roma for $1,886.

Pair with: Duh, no skin-tight little dresses for these shoes! To avoid looking like you spent the night on the Strip, wear them with something unexpected, like J.Brand’s mid-rise stretch-leather pants in bright white – a touch of Miami that won’t show too much flesh. On Net-a-Porter for $920.
