Christian Louboutin Capsule Collection: The Red Sole Turns 20

Marking the brand’s 20th anniversary – congratulations, Monsieur Louboutin! – they are releasing the Capsule Collection, a selection of 20 indelible styles (along with six one-of-a-kind bags).

A look back on two decades of Louboutin, the edited group boasts Christian’s most beloved themes and inspiration: art and architecture, showgirls and cabaret, exotic adventures and even a sprinkling of fetishism. It all comes together with his inimitable way with proportion play and va-va-voom silhouettes.

Styles like La Pluminette, embellished with an explosion of feathers. His muses: the Paris dancers Louboutin likens to birds of paradise. Of course, the definitive Highness-Tina boots – layers of fringe designed with Tina Turner’s moves in mind. The Copt sandal just cements how prolific and eclectic the brand is – inspired by a Coptic cross bought in Luxor, it’s an ode to Egyptian handicrafts.

The designer himself calls the anniversary, “a celebration of…its first young adventure.” Perfectly put from the man whose shoes make the perfect fit!

  1. Being an avid shoe lover I have a few pairs of CL in my collection. While they are beautiful, they are also my most awkward. (besides a pair of pigalle flats that I have) I have to calculate exactly where I will walk before I dare wear them. If I have any chance of having to walk any distance at all…I choose another brand of shoes to wear. I have several heels (and they are high) that I can wear no matter the occasion…Gucci, YSL, Lanvin without the worry. I know that CL says himself that his shoes are “candy for the feet”…but we still should be able to stand up in them. Anyone else out there have this problem????
