Best of the Awards Shows, Part 1: Shoe Snob’s Choice
By Shoe Snob Tina
January 15, 2012

The holidays may be over, but there’s a new season full of treats and surprises: awards season! I’m live tweeting the Golden Globes right now but wanted to share a few favorites from the past week. Like the People’s Choice Awards, where it’s more about having fun than carrying off a couture gown. That’s why it’s so appropriate that the red-carpet attraction of the night was Emma Stone, who picked up two awards in head-to-toe Gucci, out of the Spring 2012 collection. I love a starlet who proves you don’t have to rock a dress to totally kill it! Her T-strap Ophelia pumps were the cherry on top of her tuxedo sundae.

Ginnifer Goodwin made a splash in an orchid-bright Roksanda Ilincic dress, but the bell-sleeved frock wouldn’t have been such a success without her whisper-light Jimmy Choo lace booties. Who else won it with her Choos? Jaw-dropper! Miley Cyrus looked lovely in a sheer-paneled David Koma dress and metallic fuchsia pumps (too bad she Tweeted that her shoes hurt so badly she wanted to chop her toes off!).

From the people to the critics. Two nights later, Charlize Theron perfect the balance of decadence and minimalism with a heavily ruffled Alaïa gown and nearly-naked golden Giambattista Valli sandals – essentially, the only shoes you can wear with this dress.

While Elle Fanning’s Rodarte is on the divisive side, her grainy metallic heels brought sophistication to a seriously whimsical look. Finally, newcomerElizabeth Olsen was easy and fresh in sunny Pucci and their impeccably nude peep-toe sandals. I can’t wait to see who wears whom next!
