Burberry Verulam Beaded Leather Sandals: State-of-the-Arts and Crafts
By Shoe Snob Tina
November 8, 2011

Better known for preppy buckles and studs-gone-refined, I don’t naturally associate Burberry with earthy arts and crafts. Similarly, I don’t really associate this time of year with colorful wooden beads – or most times of year, for that matter!

But Burberry is increasingly unexpected these days, as Christopher Bailey has ambition to spare and even more creativity. He wants the age-old house to experience an all-out Youthquake while the firm British roots of the brand are maintained and respected. All the power to him! Besides, anything goes for Resort. I love a good burst of energy, even if it comes out of nowhere. Which is why I’m loving these jangling T-strapped sandals – they’ve got the best of both worlds.

With thick leather straps, a slender front platform, and even slenderer heel, the base is pure Burberry. Switch up the stiletto to burnt orange and add a few wrists-worth of multi-color beads, designed to drape over your foot with vacation-time ease, and you have a fresh take on the strappy sandal that comes with your jewels included. Homespun? Indeed. Sure to inspire a spin on the moonlit dance floor? Absolutely. On Net-a-Porter for $795.

Pair with: Take your beaded feet into elegant urban territory with the help of a pair of mixed-material opera gloves. Lanvin’s textural gloves have a wool top and leather underside, for the best kind of visual stimulation. On Ssense for $1,560.

The sandals are both edgy and earthy at the same time. I have to say they are pretty fabulous. I usually end up buying something from Burberry every season, love the brand.
