Balmain Alight Booties: The Alight is More than Alright
By Shoe Snob Kelly
November 11, 2011

A boot like this cements the bold return of the sharp stiletto. If you think about it, though, the Balmain girl has always been about the lean, pointed heel (and toe to match). It fits with her skinny, low-rising leather pants and heavily adorned minis – a true rocker (no matter how luxury-loving she is) likes her boots with some prickle.

It doesn’t get more quintessentially Balmain than the Alight booties. A nonchalantly knotted belt – of course, in scaly snake texture – sets the tone for a serious boot with some serious attitude. This crooked, haphazardly buckled strap functions the precise way a leather-loving chick’s low-slung belt does on her outfit: it breaks up the body in an ideal way and gives the look purpose.

Look closer, and see this pebbled-leather ankle boot has additional interest. The unusual seam detail snaking down the center breaks up the front of shoe and catches your eye. Especially at the moment, the pointed toe and even pointier heel feels sleek and sophisticated. Who knew flash-impassioned Balmain would deliver such versatility you can rely on for seasons to come? On Ssense for $1,700.

Pair with: A real rebel mixes her metals. Stir it up with L’Agence’s metallic pewter jersey dress. A body-hugging fit makes for undeniably appeal – just add a pair of black tights and an armful of jewels. On Net-a-Porter for $325.
