On my second day in Paris, I bought a pair of flats. Running around to shows and appointments is far easier when you’re close to street level. It seems like I wasn’t the only one who thought it wise to ditch my stilettos for the day. Parisian women are known for their easy sense of chic; as in, they can look perfectly polished in their nonchalant ballerinas – the flats actually make the look. Fellow American-in-Paris Jessica Biel also got the memo!
I actually saw her today at a show, surrounded by screaming fans. (Yes, screaming. Who knew she was so popular in Paris?) I was more excited by the fact she was wearing Roger Vivier’s classical Belle de Nuit flats – and carrying her heels, no less! With a dignified suit and quilted Chanel in her hand, she looks the part of a true Parisian. Fresh off the plane just a few days earlier, she wore Vivier’s Ballerine Gommas with easy black jeans and a big Tod’s Signature tote. And really, when your flats are Vivier, who needs heels?
