Alexander McQueen Peep-Toe Bow Wedge: Fit for a McQueen
By Shoe Snob Tina
October 3, 2011

Voluptuous bombshell curves, a retina-piercing color, and fluffy, frivolous bows: looks like these shoes are designed to steal all the attention wherever they go. Which means they are almost too pretty to wear! And almost too heavy to wear – at one pound a piece, forget the gym. You’ve got your workout built right into your hyper-feminine high-heels.
Alexander McQueen is unmistakable when it comes to high-drama footwear. The angles and adornments just can’t be found anywhere else. Combining a girly bow and sexy little peep-toe with a super-edgy wedge puts these fantastical platforms in the major lust category. On second thought, the fact that they suede (rather than say, satin) makes the rich, saturated pink slightly more realistic. Plus, the petite zipper on the inside has an extra-long pull, giving the faintest hint of nonchalance. Either way, with ankle-baring cutouts and silk faille ribbons, these wedges are fit for a queen. And who doesn’t want to be queen for a day? On Zappos for $1,050.

Pair with: Such a fanciful, bold shoe requires a clutch that is equally feminine yet toned down by about 50%. Bring on the black lace bag. Versions by Oscar de la Renta ($950), L’Wren Scott ($1,195), and Judith Leiber ($2,995) all fit the bill. Just avoid adding another big bow (Valentino) or clashing pink and red (Nina Ricci) – less is more when wearing these mega-more shoes.

If I love a pair of shoes and they will take me from season to season I will pay whatever the price tag is. This pair of shoes however, unless you are Lady Gaga, is a ridiculous price for a ridiculous shoe.
