Alaïa Lace-Up Calf-Hair Platform Boots: Stomping Ground
By Shoe Snob Tina
August 8, 2011

Spot-on in so many ways. Thank the old master Manolo for the sexy construction bootie – he planted stilettos on Timberland hiking boots twenty years ago, and the trend has steadily stuck for two decades! But only Alaïa can induce severe heart palpitations, as far as I’m concerned. I loved these platform boots last year in snow leopard, but I hesitated over white pony hair. Now a release of gray leopard? Must. Get. Now. Despite sweating in 110° weather, I’m thinking ahead. In my old age and hard-earned wisdom, I have learned: if you really love it, get it or live in regret.

No way am I letting these lace-up booties pass me by. As comfortable as they are insanely stylish, they are a rare mix. Rubber-bottom soles means full support and no-slip grip, but you still get all the height and magnetism of a killer heel. I will wear these daily throughout the fall/winter season. Watch out, or I’ll stomp right over you! On Net-a-Porter for $2,220.

Pair with: I can’t wait to dress these up, down, and all around. I’m all about ultra-petite bags these days, especially with shoes this tall and major. Derek Lam ($690), Diane von Furstenberg ($450), and MICHAEL Michael Kors ($155) all have choice options, to name a few.

I have been debating these for awhile…are they really worth the money or should I keep fingers crossed that they go on sale? Have you worn yours?
