Stuart Weitzman Internal Wedge Boot: Faux-Flat Attack
By Shoe Snob Kelly

I don’t understand the point of these boots. Isn’t the beauty of flats the fact that they are flat? And these hidden wedges certainly don’t LOOK better than heels. Stuart Weitzman‘s “internal wedge” gives you neither. Not the comfort of flats, nor the sexy appeal of a heel. And the giant fabric panel isn’t helping the awkward look of this boot. For short girls who want height? Forget the flat boot trend, it was never that good, stick with heels!!

Personally, I am loving that flat boots are finally acceptable only because I have to wear flats most of the time. But if my back allowed for heels, I would never wear flats, and surely not concealed heels that pretend they’re flats! I just don’t get it. Are there actually people out there embarrassed by heels? Do you really think you’re fooling people by hiding the heel to make them think you are taller? For sure not women! Maybe they should market these hidden wedge boots for men (ahem, actors). At Neiman Marcus for $595.

I do agree that heels are fabulous…I wear them all the time. There is that occasion that flats are more appropriate. In the climate that I live it is essential to have a stylish flat boot. I have the completely flat (like a riding boot) version of these and they are easy to pull on over skinny jeans because of the elastic back…and they are still stylish because of the over the knee leather in the front. Needless to say quite comfortable. The hidden wedge a little weird as most people needing the hidden wedge have a hard time wearing over the knee…over the knee if you are short translates to up to the hip.

It’s the kind of thing Tom Cruise would wear to look taller than his leading lady.

Actually the hidden wedge makes sense. For people that have a higher arch wearing a completely flat shoe hurts. With a slight wedge, it ups the comfort level, while giving those people an option to wear “flat” shoes. As you know, flat shoes are very on-trend at this moment.

I agree with WC. Completely flat shoes are not comfortable for me and I can’t wear high heels all the time. This is a nice alternative to the completely flat shoe. Plus, I am happy to have an extra inch of height whenever possible. I’m not in the love with this particular boot though.
