I can hardly recognize you! I have read so many interviews with the Master of the Stiletto, in which Mr. Blahnik shared his unequivocal hatred of two things: platforms and clunky shoes. Behold the “Kin” and perhaps a change of heart? I’m glad he is slowly (but surely) warming up to both the weightier sole and heftier heel ‘cuz I’m a major fan!
He is definitely on trend, what with studded hardware punching luscious skins. While it’s rare to see such dainty snakeskin (pale French blue is decidedly delicate) juxtaposed against a wooden platform and nail head studs, let’s not forget whom we’re dealing with here. He’s Manolo, after all, and in his capable – if not slightly contrite – hands, a “clog” is anything but “cloggy.” Purple, Blue, Beige at Barneys New York for $439 (from $735).
Pair with: Follow Manolo’s lead and play up your hardware. Lanvin‘s stretch-nylon dress is an unexpected though classic choice. The neutral dark gray color with goes with purple, blue, or beige and the brass-tone zipper is not too in-your-face. At Barneys New York for $1,619 (from $2,700).
While I’m with you on being happy to see Manolo expand his horizons, I have to say these shoes look more like Steve Madden styles than designer shoes deserving of such a hefty price tag. Is it just me?

I agree I am glad he is designing with a platform. I love his shoes but have been disappointed he has not had boots with a platform. I think these shoes may look better on.
