If Belle de Jour was filmed in 2011, Séverine Serizy would most definitely be wearing a pair of Brian Atwood Greta in patent leather and studs while she walked to her afternoon “job”.  Nude patent is demure and elegant, while the gold studded black leather is wild and sexy– like the double life she led.  I don’t even care that the heel is over 6″ and I’ll literally be walking on my tippy toes because these are the hottest shoes I’ve seen from Spring 2011!  At least there is an ankle strap to keep me from tripping (so I hope).

Espadrilles are key for summer, boots are key for winter, but where does an espadrille boot fit in?  Perhaps cool summer nights in LA– the land of casual chic but I’m just not feeling these.  I was starting to tire of the open toe bootie anyway and these confirmed my feelings.  I would have liked them slightly better with a wooden or leather platform wedge, what about you?  Snob or Slob?

Gucci does the back zip heel right. They’re the ones I’m always drawn to and the fit has been perfected by their masters. I find these to be tricky because there is no give so if something is wrong with the fit, it becomes extremely comfortable. Instead, Gucci makes it so that your whole feet is cradled in for soothing comfort. Looking sexy is another Gucci signature and do doubt there is plenty of that with the strappy and the studs. The tobacco leather is great for warm nights but can transition to fall without missing a step. At Bergdorf Goodman for $795.

I have a feeling these are going to be a “love” or “hate” item for you savy shoe people out there.

The Miu Miu contrast stitch wedge in my opinion, is adorable. I could see myself wearing these come summer as they are versatile, cute and really say, “buy me a root beer float and let’s ride the tilt-a-whirl till Emma throws up” which is, and I’m not even kidding, what happens every single summer to me.

These would look just dandy with a skirt and tank combo for a picnic or a simple cotton dress for sweet summer date near the beach.

Though there is something about these shoes that seems a little young to me, I still think they are fun if you play it up for a casual, beach-y look. These make me long for hot days, breezy nights, suntan lotion and cherry slushies.

I knew this shoe was from Jil Sander before I clicked on the details.  Raf Simons interprets Japanese minimalism almost as well as Jil herself does (and this is from a die hard fan of Jil Sander the woman).  I have to smile when I look at this shoe, it reminds me of all the A-mas in Taiwan who grew up in Japanese occupied Taiwan– they’d chase their kids on the streets to get them back in the house, a hysterical sight as they teeter totter!  I like these stacked heel wedges with rubber soles (built in shock absorbers), just as comfortable as flats but with much more style.

Ask and you shall receive. You wanted flat (ish) espadrilles, here you have them. These are 2 that I just bought and if you feel that this weird pitch is dumpy, you’ll be happy to know that this is the look right now. Stuart Weitzman is not normally the most cutting edge (more like never) but there are benefits to this shoe that will make up for the mainly utilitarian look and use – the bottom is cushioned so you feel like you’re walking on air. These are everyday running around shoes, which they’re perfect for since they are practically flat, as in, almost no pitch. The Chloe is way cuter and can make an appearance at nice lunches but is not as comfortable (about a 2″ incline). The natural linen with the natural leather is a natural combo. I love the crisscrossing ties, they always makes you look glamorous and sexy. The closed toe is perfect for the end of your pedicure cycle – you know, after beach and before your next mani/pedi. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, there is a lot going on with the Acne pin fur heels, but I kind of enjoy its randomness and free spirit. I feel like this shoe is saying, “Yea, I know I’m blue with fur and metallic detail, and I confuse people with my print and loud outward fashion, but get to know me, I may surprise you” (wink face).

I think if I spent a night in these shoes, I would love them. With a pair of skinnies and a black top, they would snazzy things up. They are fun, unique and would turn some heads, but I couldn’t get away with them too often, or they might wear on me, instead of the other way around.

This is one of my favorite colors yet I do not own a single pair of violet shoes.  I’ve always felt that bright purple boots or pumps  are hard to carry off unless you’re a one named performer (you know who you are).  The Akiko shoe from Derek Lam, however, may just be my first foray into purple shoes.  It is a playful platform thong sandal made of eels skin that will go with just about anything in the summer!  Eelskin is having a major moment right now; it’s an extremely durable (and inexpensive) skin and gets softer with use.  I’ll have to go and try these on first though, just to make sure the pitch isn’t so high that my toes get jammed up against the thong.  What do you think purple shoes?

These will make a lady out of anyone. Even Paris Hilton will speak in complete sentences and consider the use of grammar. They’re not super serious, they are canvas (or tweed) afterall, but the navy piping and the double strap details are tres refined. A lovely shoe for a lovely spring lunch with lovely friends. Lovely. I have never been a fan of the sneaker pump, wedge or platform. Making them an olive green with a white bottom is certainly not going to make me start.

Am I the only one who finds this look ridiculous? I don’t understand how I keep seeing it pop up everywhere? I don’t know what in the entire world I could wear these with and not look like an idiot. These looks like something Holly Madison would wear to school some new Playboy bunnies in a game of hoops.

In my opinion, if you are going to wear a sneaker, you don’t need it to be jacked up on a wedge, and if you are going to wear a wedge, you want it to be sexier than a converse with lipstick on.

Sneaker wedge wearers of the world, please enlighten me. What, do you wear these with, and why?

Last summer, I tried desperately to find a boot I could wear to outdoor concerts, festivals and picnics that would protect me from the mud and spills that come with those events, but would still look cute with a dress without looking too western. These would have been PERFECT.

I love boots with dresses. It’s such a summer look and I always feel sexy in them. I don’t, however, always want to look like I’m going to a rodeo or a Kenny Chesney concert every time I want to pull this look off.

The Maison Martin Margiela Western Knee Boot is the perfect combination of light summer boot with just a hint of western influence. These leather and canvas platform slingbacks are a great buy for spring. The olive color of the leather combined with the nude of the canvas is a laid back, sexy look. These would look great for a casual day-date with a pair of cropped jeans and button up.

Platform’s like this are always a safe bet. I get a lot of wear out of them, they look good with jeans as well as day dresses, and they aren’t too high to make me uncomfortable. These are something I could see myself tying on for an all day shopping spree, or a walk in the park.

Though I do enjoy major wedges with a higher pitch for night time, these will do just fine for day.

The Ann Demeulemeester Crisscross Sandals are wide straps of white leather beauty hugging a 5¼” leather covered wedge. A shoe like this craves attention, demands respect, and would absolutely be demolished in one day with me as its owner.

I love white. It makes me look tanner in the summer, it looks great with my hair color, and I have a special place in my heart for the classic black and white combo of nearly anything. I just can’t see myself lasting more than an hour in these babies because I would be so paranoid about getting them dirty. I don’t think I would be able to walk in them, let alone have a normal day/night in them. What if I spilled something? What if I scuffed them? What if they touched a…sidewalk?

I’m in Asia now and if you’ve ever been to an Asian house, you will know that it’s customary to remove your shoes before entering. The host will offer you a pair of slippers, and I don’t want to sound like a bad guest or anything but I’ll be brutally honest here, these slippers leave much to be desired. Why can’t someone offer these Bottega Veneta Woven Toe Slippers? At least, that’s what comes to mind when I see these. And for those who are tired of hearing me complain about my bad back, I am doing you a favor by putting all my favorite flats in one story.
