Reed Krakoff Spring 2011

It’s becoming quite clear that, with his sophomore collection under his crocodile belt, Reed Krakoff has become something of a master of experimentation. While the clothes remain polished and pared-down, the accessories–and in particular the shoes–really reflect the Coach executive creative director’s flare for the wild side. Last season, for fall, he delivered full on luxury with fur-wrapped sandals. For spring, his new “It” shoe comes in form of an ankle cuff sandal with natural boar hair, gold lizard toe ring and mid walnut block wood heel. No stiletto here, ladies. But check out that detail. It’s reminiscent of little stacks of hay tied together and bundled around the ankle. It makes for gorgeous movement once on the foot and isn’t so over-the-top as to alienate a more mature clientele.
