I bought the Laurence Dacade Orice Sandals on sale in both of the above colorways. I should have known better than to buy shoes marked down to $109 when the original price was $570! Luckily Forward by Revolve has the most accommodating return policy, because I could not walk more than two seconds in these shoes! Not only was the strap uncomfortable, but my toes were wobbling all over the place. I guess what they say is true – if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

I’ve been itching to try a pair of moccasins for as long as I can remember, and this pair from Tom Ford may finally be what drives me to take the plunge. Tom hosted an intimate preview of his Spring 2011 men’s accessories during men’s Milan Fashion Week and I fell in love with this pair. It’s kind of like a moccasin meets driving shoe if you look carefully: take away the side fringe and voila! You have a chic pair of driving loafers. I love the front stitching all around…it’s add a real vintage, worn-in look to them. I’d wear these with my beaten up green camouflage cargos or tailored jeans–versatile is they key! The side fringe has a real Jimi Hendrix feel to them; very Bohemian but at the same time supple and luxe.

That said, the similarities are striking despite the obviously more luxurious look of the ones from Charlotte Olympia. The gold island platform is awesome and could dress up even the plainest LBD, while the front toe-shape slims your feet. The only drawback is that the shoe is canvas and six inches is a bit high for most women above 5ft 4″ – unless you don’t mind towering over half the room!

I may not have bowled over by Kristen Stewart’s choice of this one-shoulder Elie Saab dress, but I give her two thumbs up for her shoes. At first I wasn’t sure if they were Louboutin; I hadn’t seen that pin-thin a stiletto heel before, but upon closer inspection, they indeed were! Paging Victoria Beckham! They actually reminded me of an Antonio Berardi shoe Gwyneth Paltrow wore more than a year ago; that’s one precarious heel to teeter on! These Louboutins, called the Big Lips, are actually reasonably priced (in this market), and if you can pull it off, is one s-e-x-y shoe. I love the Tourterelle suede pump style and the gun metal spike heel, may I say once more, is killer! It’s a beautifully shaped shoe with just enough of a curve to flatter without being too feminine.

$755, available at Neiman Marcus (888-888-4757) & Christian Louboutin North Robertson boutique (310-247-9300)

Woah…Lady Gaga in shoes that aren’t 12 inches!??? I’m shocked! I have to admit I got a kick out of reading that Lady Gaga became “fashion roadkill” when she ended up on her hands in knees after falling in the airport in absurdly high shoes. Her need for attention – as evidenced by the outfit above – seems to have spiraled out of control. Studded undies and bandannas aside, I’m liking these Michael by Michael Kors Dermott Patent Platform Shoes ($99.42, originally $145). I’m rarely a fan of anything from the Kors diffusion line because, for the most part, I’ve found the shoes to not only look cheap, but feel cheap. I haven’t seen these shoes in person so I can’t attest to their quality, but I think the cone heel and gold cork sole make them look pricier than they are.

What do you think about Lady Gaga’s platforms?

It’s all about the heel, of course! And this is not just a sculpted heel, this is an architectural jewel. For an outright ladylike look, you will feel like Barbie if she were to get etiquette training from the Queen herself. The gray suede works with everything, the lattice toe is ultra feminine for the girliest dresses and that heel is made for the evening, although they will be appreciated at nice luncheons, too. You can also easily rock this out with the right attitude and accessories.
Paging Elizabeth Hurley!

I’m loving these Versus Metallic Safety Pin Sandals! It’s been forever since I’ve bought anything from Versus – in fact the last thing I can recall buying is a pair of red seaweed-inspired sandals that I wore to my High School prom! These sandals are currently marked down about 40% and are priced at just under $500. The only thing stopping me from getting them is I’m worried about the safety pins leaving marks on my feet. The safety pins are awesome though. Not only are the metallic colors instantly eye-catching, but each pin has the Versace Medusa head incorporated into the pin design.

What do you think about these Versus sandals?

As Vionnet, under the creative direction of former Prada designer Rodolfo Paglialunga, is cautiously expanding. First up: a capsule group of 25 spring pre-collection shoe designs produced by Giuseppe Zanotti that will range in price from about $555 to $740. A combination of leather and silk fabrics make up the majority of the collection–some are strappy with color-blocked patterns while others feature wrap ankles (a major emphasis) and flat soles. In keeping with the season’s top shoe trend, low heels are offered in the lineup–but there are also several major heel designs for the holdouts. However special, Paglialunga was conscious not to replicate the house’s storied designs. There’s nothing trendy about these shoes; they’re designed to be, as Zanotti puts it, “restrained elegance.” What do you think of the line?

My first Shoe Snob entry and I am loving this experience already. Shoes, come on girls, if that’s not the direct line to our hearts I don’t know what is (OK fine, maybe bags!). Just looking at this Alaia chain link heels make me want to want to do back flips like a trained poodle. And that is what I would do to have these. All trends start with jewelry and we’ve already seen chain links from Oscar de la Renta all the way down to Kenneth Jay Lane. These are uber duper glamorous and will turn any schleppy day into a red carpet haze. The ankle straps are like jewelry, your accessory is accessorized!! These have moderate high heels with no platform, making them more ladylike and refined and less drag queen because this look could get very costumey very quickly. But leave it to Alaia to do everything with perfection. At Net-aPorter for $2680.

Am I the only one who would take Kirkwood and Atwood over Choo and Blahnik any day of the week!? These shoes are classic, yet completely original and memorable. I love the restrained nod to the 80s with the sculpted, popping heel and the snake-effect adds a nice textural element to the shoe.

Always done with extra doses of wit and whimsy, Marc Jacobs’ Collection shoes for resort didn’t disappoint. Simply put: if you liked his resort bags, then you’ll love his resort shoes. Again, my favorite pair was a simple square-toe black pump that featured the resin flower affixed in front–wouldn’t it look gorgeous peeking out from underwear a wide-leg trouser? The raffia-trimmed heels are certainly a charmer as well; they project just enough girly-girl but are still chic enough to be taken seriously in the front row. And how about that mouse-like pair of flats with the shiny shell adornment? A bit over the top for my tastes, but there’s surely a girl out there to swoon over these.

My first thought was, “Gee, Julianne Moore looks nice in her Pierre Hardy for Gap wooden sandals.” Upon closer inspection, however, I discovered that they are not from the American retail giant, but rather a small, Manhattan-based boutique called No.6 in Little Italy. In this picture, Moore is sporting the three strap clog that looks more like a chunky wooden sandal as opposed to what one would think of when picturing a clog. But Moore is indie enough to make it work; it’s definitely for a girl whose aesthetic is more Bohemian and relaxed than Upper East Side socialite.

Founded by Morgan Yakus and Karin Bereson in 2005, the No.6 collection began with a basic clog boot. For Summer 2010, No.6 updated the traditional shoe with microprints, vintage fabrics and variations in shape and soon found themselves on the well-shod feet of bold-faced names like Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ginnifer Goodwin and Agyness Deyn. A staple for the season, the clogs are available in a variety of colors, materials and heights. All bases use natural wood and since they are handmade, can accommodate special fit needs. Customers can also choose from the various No.6 heel heights and fabrications, essentially allowing for full customization ability.

$245, available at the No.6 Store (6 Centre Market St) and Web site (www.no6store.com)

Put the brown leather loafers aside for the summer and get dad a pair of nifty blue and white linen Sperry Top-Siders designed by Scott Sternberg of indie cult label Band of Outsiders. Granted, Sperry’s are the original American boat shoe (celebrating its 75th anniversary this year), so indulge in some classic nautical style and comfort. A stain and water resistant leather provides durable and lasting wear (the beat up ones are my favorite) while rust proof eyelets and shock absorbing heel cup ensure secure comfort. Best of all? Their rubber outsole provides the ultimate in traction.

From far away I was prepared to love Anna Kendrick’s Gianvito Rossi High Heel Sandals ($635), but then I got a closer look and noticed the mesh and they instantly went from “Snob” to “Slob.” If the straps were all fabric instead of metal these would be so much nicer and I’m not liking the mesh/back-bow combo. At the very least though the mesh makes the shoes a lot more breathable than fabric would. Fendi’s Court Shoes are similar, but a whole lot hotter (give me, give me, give me!) – a way better choice if you ask me!

What do you think about these mesh sandals? Snob or Slob?
